Police Log: Man Arrested with Slew of Rx Drugs, Man Tries to Take Plants

The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department.

Arrests

Aug. 4, 6:25 a.m.: Police served a warrant on Spring Street. A 56-year-old Watertown man was arrested on a warrant for a probation violation.

Aug. 4, 2:10 p.m.: Target security spotted a young man walking through the parking lot checking car doors. The man then went to a bus stop. Police located him and found items in his backpack with two pairs of mens slacks and a six pack of socks for which he had not paid. They also found drug paraphernalia and a powdery substance that appeared to be heroin. The 25-year-old homeless man from Waltham was arrested for shoplifting and possession of a Class A drug.

Aug. 6, 1:45 p.m.: An officer driving on Arsenal Street spotted a two-seater Mazda Miata with the top down with three people and a dog riding inside. The car was pulled over the officer found the driver had a suspended license and an unregistered vehicle. The 27-year-old Roxbury man was arrested for driving with a suspended license and driving an unregistered motor vehicle.

Aug. 7, 6:19 a.m.: Police had information that a Fayette Street resident had two warrants and the served him. The 29-year-old Watertown man was arrested on one warrant from Waltham District Court for larceny over $250 and one form Cambridge District Court for unlicensed driving.

Aug. 8, 6:32 p.m.: An officer spotted a driver make an illegal left turn from Galen Street onto Watertown Street. When the vehicle was pulled over the officer found that he did not have a Massachusetts license and his Vermont license was suspended. He also had a warrant. The 31-year-old Andover man was arrested on a charge driving with a revoked license and a warrant from Ayer District Court for unlicensed driving.

Aug. 8, 11 p.m.: Police were called to the area of Galen and Capitol streets for a suspicious vehicle in the area. The man driving a red pickup was seen pulling on doors of homes in the area. Police found a red pickup backed into a driveway of a vacant. Capitol Street home. He then pulled out, and headed toward Union Street. When the officer pulled over pickup the driver appeared to be under the influence of some substance. A number of different prescription medicines were found in the vehicle that did not belong to the driver. Field sobriety tests were conducted and he the 25-year-old Watertown man was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of drugs, possession of a Class B drug, possession of a Class C drug and two counts of a Class E drug.

Aug. 9, 3:17 p.m.: Target security stopped a shoplifter and when police arrived they found the man had a warrant for his arrest. The 27-year-old Allston man was arrested for the warrant from Brighton District Court for shoplifting. Target will not be seeking charges.

Aug. 10, 2:30 p.m.: Police arrested a 35-year-old Watertown man for domestic assault and battery.

Aug. 10, 9:20 p.m.: A 27-year-old man was arrested on a charge of domestic assault and battery.

Incidents

Aug. 4, 3:33 p.m.: A woman left her bike outside the Watertown Free Public Library unsecured and when she came out about 15 minutes later it was gone. The bike was a white Mongoose BMX with front and rear pegs.

Aug. 7, 1:02 p.m.: Police were called to Dunkin Donuts after a 2010 Toyota Camry was broken into. A small Coach purse was taken from the front seat, which contained cash, persona items and a credit card.

Aug. 7, 1:09 p.m.: A Russo’s employee spotted a man wheeling out some potting soil and plants and asked for a receipt. The man said he was going to pay for the after he put them in the car. The employee said he could not do that. The man got into his blue Toyota Rav4 and drove toward Waltham. The man is described as 5-foot-10, with grey hair, and wore jeans and glasses.

Aug. 7, 6:10 p.m.: A Norwood man came the Police Station to report that his iPhone 5C was gone. He believes he may have left the windows slightly open and someone might have reached in and taken the phone.

Aug. 9, 5:29 p.m.: A motorcycle owner from Lincoln discovered that his license plate was missing after visiting a home in Watertown.

Aug. 10, 2:08 a.m.: An officer on patrol was flagged down by a woman on Main Street. She said she had been at a friend’s house in East Boston and got a ride with a man who she did not know. While she was in Watertown he suddenly stopped and asked her to get out of the car and said he would not drive her any farther. After she got out she realized she left her cash and car keys in the car.

Aug. 10, 2:41 p.m.: A woman parked in the rear lot of the Arsenal Mall and when she came back to her car she found broken glass on the ground. She looked inside and found that the panel under the steering wheel was snapped off and wires had been exposed. The woman did not feel comfortable driving her 2003 Buick, so she had it towed to a mechanic. Police are investigating.

Aug. 10, 6:32 p.m.: The owner of a 1990 Buick parked in the rear lot of the Arsenal Mall and when he returned he found someone had tampered with the steering column and some wires had been exposed. Police are investigating.
