OBIT: Mary Joan Egleston, 80, Worked in Waltham Schools, Attended St. Pat’s

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Church of Saint Patrick, Watertown on Saturday, Nov. 28, 2015 for Mary Joan Egleston at 9 a.m.

Ms. Egleston, daughter of the late Timothy R. & Mary A. (Knight) Egleston, passed away Monday suddenly in St. Elizabeth Hospital in Brighton. She was 80 years of age.

Mary was a lifelong parishioner of St. Patrick’s Parish in Watertown, who worked diligently for many years as a teacher in Waltham Public Schools. She attended Boston College where she earned her bachelor’s degree then later attended Boston University for her master’s degree.

Mary brought a lifelong love of reading to her many students in the Waltham Public Schools. She supported many charities promoting animal causes. An avid bird watcher, she greatly enjoyed time on the Cape with family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to have crossed her path in life.

Beloved sister of William T. Egleston and his wife Margaret of Waltham and SR Bernadine Marie Egleston OP of Watertown. Adored aunt to her nieces Colleen Egleston Bonde, Julie Egleston Borrelli, and Erin Egleston Giovanello. Loving aunt to her nephews Allen Bonde, John Borrelli, and Eric Giovanello. Generous beyond measure to her eight grandnieces and grandnephews.

Funeral from the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home at 270 Main St., Watertown, on Saturday, Nov. 27, 2015 at 8 a.m., followed by Funeral Mass in the Church of St. Patrick, 212 Main St., Watertown, at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends kindly invited.

Visiting hours Friday 3-6 p.m.
