Police Log: Hit and Run on a House, Pickup Truck Stolen from Street

The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department.

Arrests

Nov. 2, 6:31 p.m.: An office patrolling in the Watertown Mall parking lot spotted a man known to be wanted for stealing a car and other charges. Police stopped the man and arrested him without incident. The 26-year-old Watertown man was arrested on the warrant from Waltham District Court for larceny of a motor vehicle, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and driving with a suspended license.

Incidents

Oct. 29, 6:52 p.m.: A landlord and his tenant were having an argument on Patten Street, and the tenant accused the landlord of getting physical with him. He said the landlord grabbed him by the shirt and chest during the argument. The argument was over a tenant-landlord issue. Police arrived and advised them that they could file a complaint in Waltham District Court.

Oct. 30, 11:27 p.m.: A break in was reported in the parking lot of the Ryan Skating Arena. The owner said the vehicle was parked at 9:45 p.m. and when the person returned at 11:20 p.m. it had been broken into. The rear driver-side window was shattered and a backpack was taken which contained a MacBook laptop, two GPS units and a text book. The items were worth a total of $2,200.

Oct. 31, 7 a.m. : A pickup truck was taken from Merrill Road. The 2015 Toyota Tacoma had been parked in front of the home at 10 p.m. on Oct. 30 and when the owner came out at 7 a.m. the next day it was gone. The owner believes it was left unlocked and a spare set of keys was left in the vehicle. Police are investigating.

Oct. 31, 5:54 p.m.: The rear windshield of a vehicle parked on Main Street was shattered. The owner  parked it at 7:30 a.m. and when the person returned at 5:30 p.m. the damage had occurred. Nothing was taken from the vehicle. It is not clear how the windshield was shattered.

Oct. 31, 8:25 p.m.: A man was walking toward his bike, which was parked on Mt. Auburn Street, when he saw a man kneeling next to his bike. When the owner made eye contact with the suspect, the man ran away carrying two wheels and tires. They came from a Diamondback bicycle, and were worth a total of $250. The suspect is described as an African-American man wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt.

Nov. 1, 1:21 p.m.: An Appleton Terrace resident was sitting in his home when he felt the house shake. He went out front an saw that the front column of his home had been struck by what appeared to be a motor vehicle. The corner of the porch had been pushed back. Police located blue grey and brown paint chips that had rubbed off after the collision. The building inspector was called in to assess damage and determined the home was safe to live in.

Nov. 2, 1:47 p.m.: Some collectable photographs were reported stolen by a Fairview Avenue resident. They were kept in a storage container in his home and went missing over the previous few days. Nothing else was missing and there were no signs of forced entry into the home. Police are investigating.

Nov. 2, 6:05 p.m.: Best Buy security spotted a man take a Logitech Megaboom portable Bluetooth speaker and place it into a bag. Security was unable to stop the man from leaving without paying. The speaker is worth $199.99.
