State Rep. Jonathan Hecht

The following statement was released by State Rep. Jonathan Hecht, who represents Watertown Precincts 1-9 and part of Cambridge:

Dear Constituents,

I am writing to share with you my decision not to run for re-election this fall. For the next 11 months, I will remain fully dedicated to serving as your State Representative. Come next January, it will be time for me to move on to new challenges and time for someone else to take up this job.

It is genuinely an honor and a pleasure to represent you at the State House. Thank you for all the help you have given me and for being such caring, engaged constituents.

With best regards,

Jon

  1. And that’s exactly how public office should be. No one should remain there year after year. Time for some new faces, fresh ideas, and new energy.

Thank you for your service and best of luck to you in your future endeavors.

  2. Personally, I found Mr. Hecht to be open to hearing and listening to residents, and attentive to constituents when no one else in the state legislature would be. I only hope Watertown has a person of similar character and political grounding who will now step forward to serve.

    • Yes, Jon Hecht has been a very responsive Representative. He is very honest and has a good moral compass. Unlike many of his peers, I believe that he acts according to his conscience.
