Eastern Massachusetts is in for a classic spring rollercoaster this week, beginning with a dreary, windswept rain event on Friday and Saturday before transitioning to a prolonged stretch of dry, sunny, and increasingly warm weather. A slow-moving coastal low brings widespread rain and gusty onshore winds to end the workweek. Conditions improve gradually through the weekend, and by Sunday, high pressure takes over — ushering in sunshine and a steady warming trend. Expect highs in the 50s and 60s to start, climbing well into the 70s and even low 80s by midweek. Patience will be rewarded.

Friday, May 9 — Raw and Rainy with Coastal Winds:
A windswept, damp day across eastern Massachusetts. Periods of steady rain are likely from late morning into the evening, with pockets of heavier rain inland. Temperatures hold steady in the mid 50s under thick cloud cover. Northeast winds at 10–15 mph, gusting to 20 mph near the coast. Rainfall totals range from 0.4″ to 0.75,” with locally higher amounts possible. Friday night remains damp, with rain tapering to showers. Lows around 48–50°F.

Saturday, May 10 — Spotty Showers, Slowly Improving:

Thursday, May 15 — Seasonably Warm with Partial Sunshine:
A pleasant mid-May day. Expect a mix of sun and clouds, with more sunshine breaking through by late morning. Highs climb to 76-78°F, comfortably warm but not humid. Southwest winds at 6-9 mph. No rain expected during the day, though high clouds may increase late. Thursday night is partly cloudy and mild, with lows in the mid 50s — ideal for evening plans.

Friday, May 16 — Warm and Breezy, Watching a Late-Day Front:
Likely the warmest day of the week. Highs top out at 80-82°F under partly to mostly sunny skies early. Southwest winds increase to 10-14 mph with gusts to 20 mph. A weak cold front may bring an isolated shower or thunderstorm late in the day — mainly across interior and northern areas. Most of eastern MA stays dry. Friday night remains partly cloudy and mild, with lows near 58-60°F. Early outlook favors a dry and warm start to the weekend.
