There’s a sleek new Watertown Police cruiser on the roads these days: an all-electric Ford Mustang.
The Mustang Mark E is the first EV in the WPD’s fleet, said Police Chief Justin Hanrahan, and he is giving the opportunity to be the first drivers to the Watertown Police Department’s Officer of the Month. For the month of June 2025, the Mustang is being driven by Officer Mike Hill.
“It’s sporty,” Hill said. “They’re definitely peppy.”
The Watertown Police used seized drug money to pay for the electric vehicle, Hanrahan said. The car has a police radio and computer console installed inside, so it can be used by patrol officers.
Hanrahan has two goals for the Officer of the Month program.
“We are integrating EVs into the fleet. I want to see how that goes,” Hanrahan said. “Also, I want to recognize officers who do good work. Some departments have a parking spot (for officers of the month). I thought this would be much better.”
Hill became the Watertown Police Department’s first Officer of the Month.
“Supervisors nominate officers. I believe I received five or six submissions and I made a selection off the list,” Hanrahan said. “Mike was already on my list of someone who was worthy of it.”
Becoming the first Officer of the Month was humbling, Hill said.
“It’s a great place to work,” Hill said. “It is definitely an honor to be chosen by my peers.”
Hill has been on the WPD for 11 years, and these days is a patrol officer, and also is one of the WPD’s Patrol Investigators.
“We help the detectives with their cases,” Hill said.
As part of the pilot program with the Mustang, Hanrahan wants to figure out whether the charge will hold up for the demand of a police cruiser, which is used sometimes 24 hours a day.
“They can’t just fill up with gas,” Hanrahan said.
After using the Mustang for more than a day, Hill said it still had more than 70 percent charge.
A Level 2 EV charging station is being installed at the Police Station, which Hanrahan said will take three to four hours to fully charge the vehicle. He explored getting a Level 3 charging station, which fully charges in about 20 minutes. The cost estimate of about $1 million was not in the WPD’s budget.
A great American car, the Ford Mustang. The future of transportation is not in ICE engines, so I’m glad to see the WPD and all government agencies making this change.
Not much of a change. It’s only one car, and they got the money from seized drug funds. Is this a reliable source of revenue?
$1M for a Level 3 charger? I rather see that money spent for hiring more police officers with new and better hardware, including bicycles. Now that would be really green…

What crazy a price. That price is 100 times more than it should be.
What good is tech if the price is something no one can afford.
We are in an age of tech overlords and criminal politicians who are either owned by them or control them for personal gain.
I hope we can vote out these felons and would be felons out of office soon, before the freedom to control our destinies and make our own decisions are stolen with their corrupt legislation. America is on a path to become a new Russia, or North Korea unless everyone fights back.

We did vote the felons out of office. Biden & Co. are gone.
There are many examples of their incompetence and corruption.
For instance, in 2021, the Biden Administration passed the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which included a provision to give $42.5 billion to the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) program to provide under-served and rural areas with internet access.
To date, it has connected nobody, and nothing is expected until, at least, 2026.

“Biden Spends $7.5 Billion for 7 EV Charging Stations
Biden’s $7.5 billion EV charging stations program, which promised half a million installations, still has over 499,990 to go after three years.”
Enough for now.
Please provide us with the felony convictions of former President Biden as opposed to the 34 felony convictions for President Trump.
Do you really want to talk incompetence and corruption? The ledger on the Trump terms is endless. How competent was DOGE in cutting bird flu experts during an outbreak, or the experts on the nuclear weapons process, or air traffic controllers? These are but a few examples. His unconstitutional actions to violate the emoluments clause of the U.S. Constitution are legendary. So let’s talk incompetence and corruption in his official capacity and his personal/business life (felony convictions, civil conviction for sexual assault, settlement of Trump University lawsuit, and so on.
