Police Log: Bank Teller Helps Prevent Scam, Shoplifter Arrested, Passport Found

The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department.

May 31: A woman went into Target and took multiple items, including four Lego sets, and went through the self-checkout but didn’t pay. The items had a total value of $210.

May 31: A passport was found in Watertown Square on the afternoon of May 31. The Watertown Police can be contacted at 617-972-6500 to claim it.

May 31: Two women entered Target and took $431 worth of merchandise.

June 1: Target reported a woman that came in and stole 19 health and beauty items valued at $236.

June 1: A shoplifter took a bike lock repair kit worth $82, and left on a bike.

June 2: An employee at the Stop & Shop on Pleasant Street left a cellphone in the bottle and can return room. When the employee went back the Samsung Galaxy was gone. It is valued at $1,000.

June 2: A man took food items from the hot bar at Roche Bros. worth $20 and left without paying.

June 2: A man went into Best Buy and took two pairs of Stealth Xbox headphones worth a total of $160.

June 2: A man and a woman were seen taking two PlayStation controllers and charging cables from Best Buy valued at $140 .

June 2: Someone took the adaptive cruise control sensor off a 2025 Honda CR-V parked at Purple Garage at Arsenal Yards.

June 3: A Jeep parked on Watertown Street had the rear driver’s side window smashed.

June 4: A shoplifter was stopped at Target after taking $185 in items. Eddy Carranza-Suazo, 27, of Boston, was arrested for shoplifting by concealment. The arrest was made by Officer Mike Grzelcyk.

June 4: A Putnam Street resident received a call from someone saying they were a lieutenant from the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office. He said that the resident had failed to appear to serve on a grand jury and texted over two photos showing that the resident had been assigned to serve on a jury. He told her to take out $15,000 from her bank and send the money. When she was at Watertown Savings Bank the teller asked why the resident needed to take out such a large amount of money. She was still on the phone with the caller. The teller told the resident that she was being scammed. The incident was handled by Officer Leah Keleman.

  1. Can the name of the teller be released? I have two at the main branch in my mind who I think it might be because they are always on the ball!

    • Why? No, it shouldn’t.

      The teller just stopped a criminal from getting away with it. He or she must be kept anonymous and safe as crooks can be vengeful.
