Police Log: Suspect Kicked Officer While Being Arrested, Man Threatened Customer with Piece of Glass

The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department.

June 14: At 2 a.m. Officer Khalil Mafhoum spotted a pickup truck stopped in traffic at Galen Street and Nonantum Road and the driver was asleep behind the wheel. The vehicle was running and the brakes were on. The driver seemed confused when he was awakened and did not know where he was. Police detected a smell of alcohol. Field sobriety tests were conducted and Carson Jing Lu Marques, 64, of Newton, was arrested on a charge of driving under influence of alcohol — second offense.

June 14: A suspect took items from Nike, Marshalls and Target. The man took three items from Nike worth $301, two pieces of merchandise from Marshalls worth $15, and eight items worth $103 from Target.

June 14: A package was taken from the front porch of a home on Downey Street. FedEx delivered the Apple iPhone valued at $1,100, but the resident never received it. Police are investigating.

June 14: A man took $112 in merchandise from Target.

June 15: A man was seen taking 13 items that cost a total of $368 from Home Depot. Officer Mike Hill responded and discovered the suspect had a warrant for his arrest. Ivan Amaker, 61 of Cambridge, was arrested on a charge of shoplifting — third offense, and the warrant from Waltham District Court for receiving stolen property and shoplifting — third offense.

June 16: A resident purchasing a house got an email instructing her to wire the downpayment for the home to a Bank of America account. The woman sent $342,000 to the account on June 11. The resident realized that the person asking for the money was not part of the home sale, and had somehow gotten onto the email chain. She contacted her bank but the money had already been wired. Bank of America put a stop on the account used for the fraud and launched an investigation. Police are also investigating.

June 16: A woman went to 7-Eleven at about 11:30 p.m. and when she was walking into the store a man was sitting on a brick ledge next to the entrance. As she opened the door the man said, “Look at me. I’ll cut you up,” and he was holding a broken piece of glass. When she left the sore he was still there and said he would cut her up as he held the glass. The woman called Police and reported the incident. Officers went to 7-Eleven and located the man. Garrett Decaluwe, 40 of Framingham, was arrested on a charge of assault with a dangerous weapon.

June 17: A vehicle parked in the driveway of a home on Pequossette Street was broken into. Someone went through the car and took some personal papers. The vehicle had been left unlocked.

June 17: A grill, a microwave, a computer chair and a small bookcase were dumped on the side of Cushman Street.

June 17: Someone took $50 worth of flashlights from Target.

June 20: A woman took $187 worth of health and beauty items from Target.

June 20: A pair of women were arrested for shoplifting at CVS on Mt. Auburn Street. When one of the suspects was being taken into custody she kicked Det. Miguel Colon in the chest. Jessica Grant, 35 of Saugus, was arrested for shoplifting, resisting arrest, assault and battery on a police officer, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Emily Quint, 29 of Revere, was arrested for shoplifting and had three warrants from Chelsea District Court for nighttime breaking and entering for a felony, shoplifting, and receiving stolen property and attempting to commit a crime. Officer Sean Bowler and Det. Sgt. Mark Lewis also took part in the arrest.

June 20: A vehicle parked on Stoneleigh Road was keyed while parked in front of a house.

June 20: Two women tried to take a shopping cart worth of items from Target. Security confronted them and they left the cart and fled. The merchandise was recovered.

June 21: A shoplifter took $25 worth of items from Target.

June 22: A woman was caught taking $597 worth of health and beauty products from Target. Marissa Mazzeo, 43, of Boston, was arrested for shoplifting by Officer Matt Donnell.

June 22: Ulta reported that a woman took $300 worth of perfume.

June 22: A woman took a Shark air purifier, a Ninja blender, and a Ninja 12-piece knife set worth a total of $680.

June 22: A man and woman took a T-shirt, headphones, a pack of lighters and portable charger from Target with a total value of $167.

June 23: An Arsenal Street resident received a letter stating that he qualified for unemployment benefits but he had never applied for benefits. Someone had applied using his name.

June 24: A Garfield Street resident ordered a keyboard for an iPad on Amazon. It was delivered but the package was not on his front porch when he went to collect it.

June 24: Two people were seen in the front yard of a Lawrence Street home using a tape measure to take measurements. The man and woman were taking notes on a clipboard. When they were asked what they were doing they said they were hired by an attorney to take measurements for a loan. They could not answer more specific questions. The resident called the landlord who did not know what was going on. The two people left in a Jeep Grand Cherokee.
