Arsenal Park

Let’s all go to Arsenal Park this weekend, or at least sometime soon to discover the newly renovated facilities. It provides residents of Watertown with a wonderful outdoor area for summer activities. I might even join the kids in the splash park on a hot day! But to start the weekend, on Friday evening the Hatch Maker Space has an LGBTQ+ drop-in time. It’s open for teens and adults. Saturday evening you could get your thrills watching the new Superman staring David Corenswet at the Majestic 7. If that puts you in the mood for dressing up, on Sunday go to the Jane Austen Garden Party at Gore Place, and step back into the 1700’s. There will be refreshments, music and games. Go have fun! See how art meets science at the reception for a new sculptural art installation.

VISIT ARSENAL PARK
Open 8:00 a.m. to dusk in the summer
485 Arsenal St.

Arsenal Park has undergone a major renovation, in fact, $10 million dollars’ worth of a rebuild, and has now reopened. Aside from the impressive playground area with huge slides, there is a splash pad, basketball courts, a skate park, pickle ball and tennis courts, and a community garden. For parties and cookouts, check out the picnic and grill area. Picnic table rentals begin in mid July. Go take a look! It’s a great place to play, for children and adults. There will be a ribbon cutting on the 15th at 4:00, but the park is open to go have fun right now.

To obtain a picnic table and grill permit, call the Recreation Department at 617-972-6494.
