2025 Watertown Election Includes Races for City Council, School Committee & Library Trustees

Candidates pulled papers to challenge for seats on the Watertown City Council, School Committee, and Board of Library Trustees in the 2025 Watertown City Election. At least one incumbent on each of the boards will not be running, and there will be new faces on all three.

The City Election will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 4, and there will be no preliminary election.

Councilor-At-Large John Airasian, will not be seeking reelection. There are two challengers for the board: Tom Tracy (the retired Watertown Auditor) and Theo Offei, as well as incumbents Tony Palomba, Caroline Bays and John Gannon.

The other race on the City Council will be in District C, where Council Vice President Vincent Piccirilli faces a challenge from Andres Guzman.

Three seats are up for re-election on the School Committee, and current member Lily Rayman-Read will not be running in 2025. Incumbents Jessica Middlebrook and Amy Donohue will be on the ballot along with challengers Sheila Krishnan, Joseph Ganno, and former School Committee member David Stokes.

Only one Library Trustee up for election will run in 2025, Leanne Hammonds, while Rose Mary Su and Sara Keary not running. Three challengers joined the race: Xin Peng, Pia Owens, and Fowler Brown.

The Board of Election Commissioners must still certify the nomination papers for all candidates. They will meet on July 21. Candidates have until July 28 to withdraw.

The last day to register to vote in the Nov. 4 election is Oct. 24, at 2 p.m. Early in-person voting will take place at City Hall on Oct. 28, 29, and Oct. 30.
