
The 20th edition of the Donohue’s Turkey Trot drew the biggest crowd in the history of the Thanksgiving morning 5K run and walk. More than 1,500 people joined in the event, which raises money for the Watertown Boys & Girls Club.

Competitors came from as far as New Zealand and England to take part in the Turkey Trot, said JD Donohue, owner of Donohue’s. The 1,500 slots for the race sold out before the race began, but Donohue invited others to join in as “bandits.”

Thomas Fellows won the Donohue’s Turkey Trot, finishing in a time of 16:39. Second place went to Benjamin Morris, who finished in 16:53, and David Barney finished third with a time of 17:02.

The fastest woman, Lily Yampolsky, completed the course in 19:20. Maggie Sczupak finished second with a time of 19:25, and Sonia Boor finished third, crossing the line in 20:11.

After the 5K started, children lined up at the starting line for the kid’s Turkey Trot, which circled the block where Donohue’s is located.

Runners and spectators alike a free breakfast, followed by music and drinks at the Donohue’s after-party.

An assortment of pies from Quebrada Bakery went to the the two overall champions, the winners of each age group, the person who refers the most runners, and the captain of the largest team.
