Watertown Boys Hockey Seeks Another Tourney Bid, Season Begins at Belmont on Satuday

The Watertown boys hockey team faces off with Belmont on Saturday in the first regular season game of the year. The Raiders look to return to the State Tournament and make a run as they have in recent years.

Watertown’s squad won a double overtime thriller against Pembroke last season, before losing to Triton in the Round of 16. As recently as 2023 Watertown made an appearance in the Final Four of the State Tournament, and in 2022 the team got all the way to the TD Garden for the State Final, losing in overtime.

The home slate for Watertown, under Head Coach John Vlachos, begins on Dec. 17 at 4 p.m. with a game against Woburn at John A. Ryan Arena in Watertown. The Raiders will also host Somerville on the 23rd, and an opponent to be determined on Dec. 30. In between there will be a “road game” on Dec. 27 against Newton South, which also plays home games at Ryan Arena.

Watertown won’t return home until Jan. 10, when they face off against Stoneham. On the 17th, the Raiders begin a six game home stand against Melrose, followed by Winchester (Jan. 21), Arlington (Jan. 24), Lexington (Jan. 28), Burlington (Jan. 31) and Wilmington (Feb. 4).

Wakefield comes to town on Feb. 11, and the home schedule concludes with a non-league game against Dover-Sherborn on the 18th.
