The Polar Plunge will return to Watertown on Feb. 7, 2026, and the Watertown Police seek to raise even more this year fro the Special Olympics of Massachusetts.

Participants will take a cold dip into the mobile plunge tank that will be set up in Bond Square at Arsenal Yards, said Watertown Police Officer Michael Scafidi.

“Last year we had just over 50 participants and raised over $20,000 for Special Olympics of Massachusetts,” Scafidi said. “This year we are aiming for ’26K in ’26’!”

The money raised by the event goes to Special Olympics Massachusetts, which supports 19,404 participants at 1,073 events across the Commonwealth.

“There are currently 1,398 coaches and Special Olympics has 505 School Partnerships in Massachusetts,” Scafidi said. “The Polar Plunge helps Special Olympics fund these programs so that the athletes and their families see no cost. This is true local, not just across the state, as the Belmont/Watertown S.P.O.R.T. program allows local athletes to have access to Special Olympics programs.”

All are welcome to attend the event, whether participating or not.

The event is open to the public and people can either register to participate individually or create a team. To sign up to participate in or sponsor this event, click here
