Police Log: Man Caught Breaking Into a Vehicle, Fraudulent Health Insurance Policy Opened in Resident’s Name

The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department.

Jan. 13: Police received a report of a suspicious car idling on Melendy Avenue. Officer Francis Yannizzi responded and saw the vehicle. When he approached the vehicle drove off. The driver was pulled over and the man behind the wheel said he did not have a driver’s license. Kevin Forgas-Cruz, 21, of Waltham, was arrested on a charge of unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

Jan. 13: A resident received multiple emails from Dick’s Sporting Goods in Leominster saying that an order was ready to be picked up. The resident had not made the orders and was able to cancel the order. The charges were made on a Watertown Savings Bank card, which was cancelled.

Jan. 14: An outdoor patio loveseat was dumped outside a building at the corner of Mt. Auburn Street and Irma Avenue.

Jan. 14: A shoplifter was detained at Target. He had been involved in 11 incidents between Nov. 28 and Jan. 14 in which he took $979 in merchandise. The man was summoned to Waltham District Court on a charge of shoplifting.

Jan. 15: A resident noticed his trunk opened and saw a man going into his vehicle. A laptop and a wallet were taken. He contacted police and gave a description of the suspect. Officers located a man fitting the description. Officer Chris Peterson took the man into custody and took him to the Police Station where he provided a false name. Police found his real ID and arrested Saeed Ahianyevi, 21, of Somerville, on charges of breaking and entering during the daytime for a felony, and providing false information to police.

Jan. 15: A Gay Road resident was told by his doctor’s office that his insurance had been declined. The resident found that someone had opened a fraudulent health insurance policy in the resident’s name. The policy was closed.

Jan. 15: A resident lost a wallet and someone attempted to make two fraudulent charges on a credit card. Police are investigating.

Jan. 16: A grill was dumped on the side of Grenville Road .

Jan. 17: A man was seen taking a large number of items from Stop & Shop on Pleasant Street. The man took 86 items, mostly allergy medication. The suspect was seen leaving in a silver motor vehicle.

Jan. 17: A vehicle parked at Repton Place had multiple eggs thrown at it.

Jan. 18: Two men entered Target and took $204 worth of merchandise.

Jan. 18: A man took $120 worth in items from Target.

Jan. 19: A package containing a platinum bar was taken from a business on Mt. Auburn Street. The bar cost $2,555.

Jan. 19: A man entered Target and took candy, a teeth whitening kit and energy drinks valued at $197.

Jan. 21: A black office-style desk was left in front of 170 Main Street.
