
The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department.
Feb. 1: An officer on Main Street spotted a vehicle running a red light at the intersection of Main and Pleasant streets. Officer Andrew DiDuca pulled the driver over and discovered she had a suspended license. She also did not have her license on her. Sarah D’hati, 23 of Brockton, was arrested on charges of driving with a suspended license, a red light violation, and not having a license in possession.
Feb. 2: A man took a pair of wireless headphones from Best Buy. They were valued at $80.
Feb. 2: A vehicle parked in a driveway on Fairfield Street was broken into and $70 in cash was taken.
Feb. 2: Two juvenile girls shoplifted at Target. One took four items that cost $199 and the other took five items that cost $179. Both were 13-year-olds from Boston.
Feb. 3: A woman took eight items from Target that cost a total of $242.
Feb. 3: Watertown Police received a report of a vehicle stolen from Everett. The owner was tracking the 2007 Toyota Camry on a phone and saw it coming into Watertown on Mt. Auburn Street. Police found the vehicle abandoned on Mt. Auburn Street near Dexter Avenue. No suspects were located.
Feb. 5: A woman was helping her daughter search for apartments and sent a Facebook message for two listings on Facebook Marketplace. The poster asked her to pay a fee through Chime, one for $50 and one for $70. She then realized it was a scam and contacted police.
Feb. 5: A woman took $112 worth of groceries and health and beauty items from Target.
Feb. 6: A Pierce Road put a check in a mailbox and later discovered someone had changed the amount on the check. It was written for $24 and was changed to $15,000.
Feb. 6: Residents of Lexington Street rented their Audi A6 through the third party company, Turo. A man from New York agreed to rent the car and return it on Jan. 21, but never returned it. The owners attempted to contact the man but he never returned their phone calls, so they believed he stole the car. On Feb. 11, police in Cohoes, New York called to report the vehicle had been recovered.
Feb. 7: Police responded to a report of a fight in progress on Maplewood Street at 12:30 a.m. Officers arrived and saw two men yelling at each other and a motorized dirt bike lying in between them. The men attempted to flee but police tracked them down. One of the men said he was friends with the other guy and he had agreed to buy the dirt bike for $1,300. The man gave him money, but noticed they had stamps on them saying “For Motion Picture Use Only,” and were counterfeit. Then the man tried to grab the bike. At that point a fight ensued. Officer Andrew DiDuca arrested Kevin Pena, 19, of Dorchester, on charges of attempt to commit a crime, unarmed robbery, disturbing the peace, and possession of counterfeit notes.
Feb. 7: A man came into Best Buy to return a MacBook valued at $1,300. After it was returned, an employee noticed someone had tampered with the computer hardware system and installed an old one. Police are trying to identify the suspect.
Feb. 7: A pole with a crosswalk signal on it at the intersection of Arsenal and Louise streets was struck by a vehicle, causing the signal to fall.
