Rosie and the Resisters have hit political protests big and small around the Boston area, and will appear at a pair of No Kings III protests including one in Watertown.
Rosie is not a signer or even musician, she is Watertown resident Thomas Michel’s red accordion.
“She, and I, accompany a strong group of singers from Watertown and neighboring communities,” Michel said. “Rosie and the Resisters were on stage at the big No Kings Rally on Boston Common back in March, and will be back on the Common on Saturday to lead songs at the rally.”
The group will also make an appearance at the No Kings rally in Watertown Square from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on March 28.
Michel said the group has received warm welcomes when they performed.
“Music helps to build solidarity, and we’ve been enthusiastically met by the crowd,” he said. “Several of the songs are sing-alongs, and many folks join in.”

Through the performances, Michel has met some of Massachusetts’ political big wigs such as Senators Elizabeth Warren, Edward Markey and Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, as well as three Boston-area Nobel Laureates at the recent Stand Up for Science protest in Boston.
Local music fans might recognize Michel and other members of Rosie and the Resisters from their performances as The Watertonics, a busking troupe that plays for passers-by from a front porch overlooking the Watertown Free Public Library.
