
The Pride month celebration continues this week with the Tipsy Tea Party on Sunday. There are a couple of chances to catch theater this weekend, one by the young thespians from Watertown Children’s Theatre and the other featuring a new theater company. Take a tour of the historic Gore Mansion and learn about the intricacies of the wallpaper in the former governor’s home on Saturday. In the mood to make something, learn how at the Hatch Makerspace on Friday.

The Tipsy Tea is back! This year’s theme is Drag me to the disco! Join the City Events Team, the Mosesian Center for the Arts, and the Friends of the COA for a festive gathering featuring delicious brunch bites, a cash bar, and fabulous drag entertainment in celebration of Pride. Dress code: Dress in your best tea attire. There will be a “Purse First” prize for best dressed guest!

NATASHA, PIERRE & THE GREAT COMET OF 1812

From the celebrated and award-winning composer Dave Malloy, Watertown Children’s Theatre presents Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812, an electropop opera based on a scandalous slice of Leo Tolstoy’s War and Peace. WCT Next Stage productions feature a cast of young adult performers ages 16-24.

DEVIL’S IN THE DETAILS: WALLPAPER AT GORE MANSION

Do you love design details and perhaps a little mystery? Come take a tour of the mansion and learn about the history of our wallcoverings plus the challenges involved in antique wallpaper reproduction. We’ll examine Gore Place’s original “painted papers” as well as some of the vibrant wallpapers that have been removed and preserved in our collections room. We’ll discuss the poisons that made antique wallpaper so vivid, view photographs of the mansion at the turn of the 20th century and explore the curious origins of our Devil’s Wallpaper.

A New Dark Comedy by a New Boston Theatre Company. An original play by Abby Sommers, Lifetime Warranty is a dark comedy centered around a father and his two children as they grapple with the sudden death of their mother/wife, and what to do with their very very old blender. The play will be performed in the Dinah Lane Theater.
