Watertown Senior Center has Free Medical Equipment Available

Free walkers and canes are among the free items available at the Watertown Senior Center. The Watertown Senior Center announced that it has some canes, walkers and other medical devices available for free. See the announcement below. We have a number of walkers, canes, a wedge, and assistive devices for visually impaired and hard of hearing. They are out in the lobby please stop in cool off and see what you can use.

Jazz enthusiasts are in for a treat as the acclaimed Eric Mintel Quartet takes the stage at the Mosesian Center for the Arts on Thursday, July 11 at 7:30 PM. The evening promises a rich blend of the timeless music of Dave Brubeck, original compositions by Eric Mintel, and much more. Eric Mintel, a celebrated pianist and composer, has a storied career spanning over 30 years. His impressive résumé includes performances by invitation at the White House, over ten appearances at the Kennedy Center, and a special concert at the United Nations. His quartet’s dynamic sound and captivating performances have made them a favorite among jazz fans worldwide.

Unclaimed Winning Lottery Ticket Worth $1 Million Sold in Watertown Expires Soon

A winning Powerball ticket sold in Watertown has a prize of $1 million, but it has not been claimed and will expire in a few weeks. The winning ticket was sold at Metro Mini Mart on Main Street in Watertown for the Aug. 21, 2023 drawing, according to WBZ Channel 4. The winning numbers were 3-4-12-22-28, and the Powerball was 16

100 Attend Senior Center’s Birthday Party, Also Learn About Free Ride Program & Make Cards

Two rooms were packed for a celebration of 31 years of the Watertown Senior Center on June 20. The birthday celebration was attended by about 100 people, said Lydia McCoy, Watertown’s Director of Senior Services. Attendees had the choice of two room.

OBIT: Raya Stern, 87, Watertown Library Trustee for More Than 3 Decades

Former Watertown resident and longtime Watertown Library Trustee Raya Stern died on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at the age of 87. Born in Germany, she and her family fled to the United States in 1938. Stern earned degrees in mathematics and moved to Watertown in 1963, where she lived there for almost six decades. Stern served on the Board of Library Trustees for the Watertown Free Public Library for 32 years, and the trustees room at the library was named in her honor. She was also was a President and dedicated member of Watertown’s League of Women Voters of Massachusetts chapter.

Police Log: Man Arrested for OUI in Police Station Lot, Shoplifter Caught with Scooter

The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department. June 14, 1 p.m.: A man pulled into the parking lot at the Watertown Police Station and encountered an officer in the authorized-personnel-only section of the lot. He was going at high rate of speed before he pulled up, and was honking his horn. The man yelled at the officer, who believed the man might be intoxicated. The man had an odor of alcohol, and glassy eyes.
