Dressed as turkeys, giraffes, Indian chiefs and more they came out in record numbers in record numbers for the ninth annual Donohue’s Bar & Grill Turkey Trot Thursday morning. The 5K run that has become a Thanksgiving tradition in Watertown raises money for the Watertown Boy’s & Girl’s Club and the Watertown Education Foundation. Donohue’s owner John Donohue said the field of runners and walkers for 2014 was the largest ever. The race was lead by the Watertown High School field hockey team, fresh off winning its sixth straight state title.

Watertown Rolls Over Belmont in Snowy Thanksgiving Game

Watertown High School’s football players started the Thanksgiving feast early by rolling out to a quick lead over rival Belmont and never looking back. Watertown ran the ball all game, often ripping off five yards or more at a time, despite a snow-covered Harris Field in Belmont. Watertown Softball Players Won’t Let Weather Stop Them

The Watertown 14U fast pitch softball team played this summer, then extended their season into the fall – but they are not done playing. The girls will be playing over the winter in an indoor winter league at the Route 1 SportsPlex in Danvers. “The girls have grown together, stuck together, worked together and have developed into a true TEAM. And not just because they are off to a 2-0 start, with wins vs Wakefield and Danvers, but because they all support each other having fun playing the game they all love,” said an announcement from the team. Bentley Volleyball Coach Named Northeast 10 Coach of the Year

The Northeast-10 Conference named its all-Conference honors which including the Bentley University coach, who lives in Watertown. Joey Pacis, Bentley’s acting head coach, received the Sandy Hoffman Coach of the Year award. This season Bentley finished the regular season at 16-10 overall, including 15-5 against East Region opponents, and earn a share of the Northeast-10 regular season championship. Watertown Field Hockey Racks Up Incredible Numbers

Which is bigger – 6 or 138? Both are impressive when it comes to the Watertown High School field hockey team. Sunday, the Raiders rolled over Auburn 5-0 to win the state championship for the sixth year in a row. The win also extends the team’s unbeaten streak to 138 games. Watertown’s streak is becoming stuff of legends.

Watertown Field Hockey Team Looks to Reach Pinnacle – Again

Watertown High School’s field hockey team returns to a familiar place on Sunday – Worcester for the MIAA Div. 2 state final. This is the sixth straight final for the Raiders, who have not lost in 137 game. Even for this successful team, however, 2014 has been a particularly successful season. Watertown compiled a 22-0 record and has outscored its opponents by a combined score of 109-0.

Watertown Field Hockey Heading to Sixth Straight State Final

Watertown has a spot in the state final – a familiar place for the Raiders who are on their way to their sixth straight MIAA Div. 2 field hockey state title bout. In Tuesday afternoon’s state semifinal at Reading Memorial High School, Watertown (22-0) faced a field hockey foe which could move the ball upfield and create offensive pressure, but the result was the same as all the games this year – a shutout win for the Raiders. “I’m extremely proud of them. They worked so hard out there and they stayed strong and stayed together,” said Watertown coach Eileen Donahue.
