Police Log: Stroller Thief Caught, String of Car Break Ins

The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department.

Arrests

May 5, 5:11 p.m.: Two women were stopped at Target for removing tags from a number of items, placing them in their pocket books and attempting to leave the store. The items were worth a combined $249.34. A 20-year-old woman from Waltham and a 21-year-old woman from Newton were arrested on one count each of shoplifting.

May 7, 2:21 a.m.: An officer patrolling spotted a vehicle make a turn on at a no-turn-on-red intersection and stopped it. The driver had an odor of alcohol on her breath. Field sobriety tests were given and the 28-year-old woman from Belmont was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol.

May 7, 12:24 p.m.: A man came into Target two nights before when he allegedly removed tags from items, and he returned and put the tags on a Sony sound system worth $212.49. The 38-year-old man from Cambridge was arrested on a charge of shoplifting.

May 7, 8:29 p.m.: A Watertown man was arrested on an outstanding warrant from Waltham District Court.

May 7, 11:04 p.m.: A 27-year-old Watertown man was arrested for violating a restraining order.

May 9, 2:03 a.m.: A car without its taillights on and stopped it. The driver had outstanding warrant from Boston District Court for leaving the scene of an accident with injuries. The 29-year-old man from Newport, R.I., was placed under arrest.

May 9, 5:02 p.m.: A man was seen acting strangely in the electrical aisle at Home Depot. The man took wire worth $62.87. The 37-year-old Boston man was arrested on charges of shoplifting and a warrant out of Lowell District Court for possession of a Class A drug.

May 10, 2:07 a.m.: Police responded to a disturbance on French Street, and a 41-year-old man from Attelboro was arrested on a warrant from Taunton District Court for traffic offenses.

May 10, 2:28 a.m.: Police went to French Street and arrested a 30-year-old man from Watertown on a warrant from Waltham District Court for credit card fraud.

 

Incidents

May 5, 8:52 a.m.: A car was broken into on Salisbury Road overnight and someone rummaged through the car and took some loose change.

May 5, 9:31 a.m.: An unlocked car on Templeton Parkway was rummaged through and spare change was taken.

May 5, 10:29 a.m.: A 25-year-old woman from Waltham will be summonsed to Waltham District Court for shoplifting from Target.

May 5, 11:12 a.m.: A pair of sunglasses and some change was taken from an unlocked vehicle parked on Maplewood Street.

May 6, 7:58 a.m.: Someone dropped paint on the front steps of a home on Arsenal Street.

May 7, 7:14 p.m.: A man came into Famous Footwear in the Arsenal Project and took a pair of sneakers worth $95. The man was described as 5-foot-8, and wore a grey hooded sweatshirt and black jeans.

May 9 8:34 a.m.: The rear window of a minivan was broken while parked in a driveway on Brimmer Street.

May 11, 8:55 a.m.: A car parked at a home on Common Street was egged.

May 11, 4:41 p.m.: A woman left a stroller near the front entrance of Target and went shopping. When she returned it was missing. Security at Target saw a woman take the stroller and enter the Watertown Mall. She was located and the 48-year-old Boston woman will be summonsed to Waltham District Court for larceny.

May 11, 6:37 p.m.: A man was caught trying to take a digital analog converter box worth $49.89 from Target. The man had been trespassed from the store in January. The 63-year-old Belmont woman will be summonsed to Waltham District Court for shoplifting and trespassing.
