A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Church of St. Patrick, Watertown for retired Watertown Police Officer Charles William “Chuck” Lenaghan, Jr. on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at 10 a.m.

Mr. Lenaghan was born in Cambridge, a son of the late Charles W., Sr. and Rita (Brogan) Lenaghan. He passed away at the Mount Auburn Hospital, Cambridge on Tuesday morning June 3, 2014 after a short illness. He was 67.

Chuck graduated from St. Patrick’s High School in Watertown, Mass in 1964. He graduated from Western New England College in 1989. He is a past Exalted Ruler of The Benevolent & Protective Order Of Elks Newton Lodge #1327. Former member of The Fraternal Order Of Eagles. He is a member of The Ancient Order Of Hibernians In
America & Disabled American Veterans. Chuck was the consummate athlete, and the epitome of being a team player, joining any league or team that he could. His fondest memories are from football, baseball, softball and bowling which is where he met most of his many friends that are still friends today. Being an avid sports fan, Chuck was a
former season ticket holder of the Patriots, the Red Sox & Boston College Football.

Above all, Chuck was a person who valued his personal relationships. He truly loved all of his family and friends with his whole heart & soul. Instead of saying good bye at the end of any occasion with friends new or old, for Chuck, it was “always a pleasure.”

After High School, he joined the U.S. Air Force, serving from September of 1966 to November of 1970. He was honorably discharged with the rank of sergeant. From 1971 until 1972 he worked for the Dept. of Public Works and from 1972 – 1974 he was employed by New England Telephone.

January 23, 1975, Chuck was appointed to the Watertown Police Department. He attended the Boston Police Academy from April 7, 1975 –June 13, 1975. He receive his bachelors degree in Law Enforcement from Western New England college. On September 29, 1975 he was assigned to the K-9 Division with his dog Lance. During
his career with the Dept., he received numerous department commendations and recognitions’ as well as letters of appreciations’ from citizens. He served 24 years, 8 months and 6 days with the Watertown Police Department, he retired on September 29,
1999.

He is the beloved husband of Kathleen M. (Oates). Loving father of Sean P. & his fiancée Kelly Uttaro of Watertown and Tara C. Lenaghan-Norcross & her wife Linda of Watertown. Dear brother of James E. of Framingham & Patrick F.X of NC. Brother in-law of Mark J. Oates & his wife Maryellen of Reading. He was the proud Uncle of 14 nieces and nephews, Kim (Oates) Aiello, the Late Jay Lenaghan , Brian
Lenaghan, John Lenaghan, Mary Lenaghan , Jessica Lenaghan, Caitlin Oates, John Oates, Keely Oates, Annie Lenaghan, Patrick Lenaghan, Meghan Lenaghan, Katie Lenaghan, Ryan Lenaghan, and their families

Funeral from the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home at 270 Main St. on Rt. 20, Watertown on Saturday at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in the Church of St. Patrick, 212 Main St. Relatives and friends kindly invited.

Visiting Hours Friday 4-8 p.m.

Interment private.
