Police Log: Man Arrested After Refusing to Pay Cab Fare and More

The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department.

Arrests

July 22, 5:20 a.m.: Police went to CVS after receiving  a report about a woman who had fallen. The officers discovered the 38-year-old Newton woman had a warrant from Boston District Court for larceny over $250. She was arrested.

July 24, 2:36 a.m.: An officer patrolling on Main Street ran the registration of a car and discovered the owner had a suspended license. The 33-year-old Waltham woman was arrested for driving with a license suspended due to an OUI.

July 26, 3:23 p.m.: Target security spotted a man putting several items into a gym bag and when the stopped him they found $591.83 worth of merchandise. The 33-year-old Boston man was arrested for larceny over $250.

July 27, 1:57 a.m.: An officer on patrol on North Beacon Street behind a taxi. He saw a man get out of the taxi, and the driver get out, waving his arms and calling for the person. The driver said the man left without paying a $37 fare. The man said he believed the fare was too much. Then he used offensive language to the officer. The man then said he would pay with a credit card in the cab. He got in, shut the door and refused to pay. Then he berated the officer again. The 32-year-old Watertown man was arrested for disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and fraud in hiring a taxi.

Incidents

July 21, 3:34 p.m.: A bicycle left by the pool house at the MDC Pool on Pleasant Street was stolen.

July 21, 6:37 p.m.: A Swetts Court resident ordered three items that were delivered on July 17, but she never received them.

July 22, 4 a.m.: A bicycle was parked behind 7-Eleven at about 11 a.m. and at 4 a.m. it was gone. The bike was a mountain bike with the words “Road Master” on it.

July 22, 9:16 p.m.: A bicycle was stolen from Mount Auburn Street.

July 23, 3:30 a.m.: A man was spotted going into 7-Eleven and took a cell phone charger worth $19.97.

July 25, 10:11 a.m.: Someone lashed a tire and took a hub cap from a car on Woodleigh Road.

July 25, 1:07 p.m.: A 2014 Lexus IS 250 was reported missing from the Lexus of Watertown dealer. It was last seen on the third floor of the garage on June 30.

July 27, 5:50 p.m.: The driver-side window of a BMW was smashed when it was parked at the Apartments at Coolidge School. A large round hole was left in the window.
