Robert Rayne, formerly of Watertown.

Lt. Colonel Robert L. Rayne, retired U.S. Army, of Indianapolis, formerly ofWatertown and Waltham, died on Aug. 23, 2014 at the age of 96.

Rayne is a retired machinist for Boston & Maine Railroad and a U.S. Army Veteran.

He was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy A. (Dupont) Rayne. Devoted father of Robert L. Rayne & his wife Carol of Indianapolis and the late David M. Rayne & his wife Maryann of Waltham. Loving grandfather of Robert L. Rayne III & his wife Darla of Fortville, IN, Charles A. Rayne & his wife Kim of McCordsville, IN, Gregory T. Rayne & his wife Jennifer of Indianapolis, David & Joseph Rayne both of Waltham. Also loved by two great-grandsons and three great-granddaughters.

He was the dear brother of the late G. Frederick, John E., Harold and Richard Rayne, Mary Boudrot, & Gertrude Nelligan. Also survived by special nieces Frances Nelligan, Audrey MacDonald & Alice Dubois.

Funeral from the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home at 270 Main St. in Watertown on Friday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. in the Church of Saint Jude, 147 Main St., Waltham.

Interment at St. Patrick Cemetery. Visiting hours are Thursday 4-8 p.m. Relatives and friends kindly invited.
