Police Log: Thieves Caught on Camera, iPhones Taken from Park

The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department.

Arrests

Sept. 16, 6:42 p.m.: Police were send to Main Street for a report of a man who was possibly intoxicated. They found a man who was taken into protective custody because he was intoxicated and they discovered he had a warrant. The 53-year-old man from Newton was arrested on the warrant from Boston District Court for larceny.

Sept. 16, 11:21 a.m.: A worker at Sunrise Massage reported that a customer had come in and taken her pocketbook and wallet. They contained credit cards, cash and IDs. A security camera caught the suspect on video, and police discovered that the suspect was staying at the Super 8 Motel. At 10:15 p.m., police learned the suspect was back at the motel. The 20-year-old woman from Canton was arrested for larceny from a building. Another woman staying with her, a 21-year-old from Randolph, had two outstanding warrants out of Boston District Court for shoplifting and larceny. She was also arrested.

Sept. 19, 5:29 p.m.: Target security stopped a suspected shoplifter who was seen removing items from the shelves and hiding them. Them 43-year-old Newton man was arrested for shoplifting.

Sept. 20, 6:32 a.m.: A man was found sleeping in the basement hallway at the Super 8 Motel. This was the second time motel staff had found him there, and police found he had a warrant. The 26-year-old Boston man was arrested for the warrant from Fitchburg District Court for traffic violations.

Incidents

Sept. 15, 8:43 p.m.: A Prospect Street resident came out to find that three tires on her vehicle were flattened and appeared to have been punctured.

Sept. 16, 11:19 a.m.: An accident occurred in Waltham involving a vehicle that had been stolen from Perfection Auto Body in Watertown. Waltham Police were pressing charges.

Sept. 16, 12:49 p.m.: Three lawn ornaments, a mother fox and two babies, were taken from a home on Charles River Road. This was the second time in a week that items were taken from the same yard.

Sept. 17, 5:50 p.m.: Two men were playing soccer at Bemis Park and left some items on the side of the field. When they were done, a coat containing two iPhone was gone.

Sept. 17, 4:32 p.m.: A woman left her bag in a carriage in the parking lot of the Stop & Shop on Watertown Street. When she returned to the store it was gone.

Sept. 19, 3:20 p.m.: A Stoneleigh Circle resident discovered that six checks had been taken from her checkbook. There had been an open house at her home and she suspects that’s when the theft occurred.

Sept. 20, 11:50 a.m.: A package was taken from the front porch of a home on Waverley Avenue. A security camera two men on video walking up to the porch and taking the package.
