Police Log: 2 Teens Busted for Bringing Air Gun to Boys Club

The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department.

Arrests

March 16, 3:08 p.m.: Target security spotted a woman placing items in a back and attempt to leave the store. The merchandise was worth $639.22, and the 27-year-old Dorchester woman was arrested on a charge of larceny over $250.

March 17, 5 p.m.: A woman was seen putting a 32-inch Vizio TV into a cart at Target and tried to leave without paying. The 23-year-old Brighton woman was arrested on a charge of shoplifting, a subsequent offense.

March 17, 6:16 p.m.: An officer was called to the Boys & Girls Club when someone saw a couple boys put a black handgun into a backpack. When police arrived, the two teens had gone into the gym at the club. The Boys and Girls Club was evacuated. An officer found the pair – a 14-year-old from Waltham and a 16-year-old from Watertown.  One of the boys tried to throw the backpack away from him. The officer found a black Airsoft pellet pistol. When the officer tried to talk to them, they would not listen to the officers. Both teens were arrested for being a minor in possession of a BB gun/air rifle and disorderly conduct.

March 19, 8:06 p.m.: Police were called to a Putnam Street for a disturbance. The suspect was yelling and screaming when officers arrived. He would not cooperate with the police and began yelling at the officers. He was arrested and when looking inside the man’s car, police found 13 individual plastic bags with what appeared to be marijuana along with a scale. He also would not leave the home where the incident took place. The 22-year-old Waltham man was arrested on charges of possession of a Class D drug with intent to distribute, disorderly conduct and trespassing.

March 21, 10:06 p.m.: An officer at 7-Eleven spotted a man and ran registration and discovered he had a warrant. The 54-year-old man from Watertown was arrested on a warrant from Concord District Court for driving under the influence of alcohol.

March 22, 12:08 p.m.: Target security stopped a woman for shoplifting after she was spotted putting items into a bag and tried to leave. The 27-year-old Brighton woman was arrested on a charge of shoplifting.

March 22, 12:53 p.m.: Security at Target stopped a man who they spotted take a PlayStation game system worth $399.99 and left without paying. The man also had warrants. The 26-year-old Cambridge man was arrested on a charge of larceny over $250, a warrant from Waltham District Court for larceny 0ver $250 and a warrant from Somerville District Court for traffic offenses.

Incidents

March 16, 4:45 a.m.: Police responded to an alarm sounding at Halfway Cafe. Officers found nothing had been disturbed inside but found pry marks near the lock of the door. A security video shows two men at the back door. Police are investigating.

March 17, 8 p.m.: A woman came into Target and started placing merchandise inside a Target bag. She was stopped and will be summonsed to Waltham District Court for shoplifting.

March 18, 9:41 a.m.: The owner of a 2015 Jeep reported that three of his four tires had been punctured and the vehicle was scratched down the length of the passenger side while it was parked on Cross Street.

March 20, 7:59 p.m.: The glass on an ATM machine at Bank of America on Main Street was cracked, and appeared to have been punched. The bank will examine video to see if a suspect can be found.

March 20, 11:31 a.m.: A resident who ordered an iPhone online never received the package that had been delivered by UPS.

March 20, 5 p.m.: The manager of Friendly’s reported that a nightly deposit made on March 11 was missing. Police are investigating.

March 21, 7:02 p.m.: A man came in and ordered $40 of gas at Watertown Gas and Service on Watertown Street. Then he changed to $25. When the attendant closed the lid of the gas tank, the car sped off toward Galen Street. The attendant got the plate of the 2005 Ford Escape and police found it had been reported stolen at 5 p.m. in Holbrook. The suspect is described as a black male.

March 22, 12:40 p.m.: A post on a vinyl fence at a building on Pleasant Street appeared to have been struck by a motor vehicle tire.
