Ana (Soares) Fernandes of Watertown May 16, 2015, age 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family at Marist Hill Nursing Home of Waltham.
Daughter of Isidoro & Ana Soares both of Portugal. Beloved wife of the Jorge Fernandes. Dear sister of the Manuel Soares and the late Antonio, Lourceno, Isidoro, Joao, & Maria Soares. Loving Aunt to many nephews, nieces, grand nephews and grand nieces.
Ana was born in Madeira, Portugal. Throughout life she frequently vacationed back to there and also loved visiting Madeira Island. Throughout life she worked diligently as a meat cutter in the old Waltham Supermarket. Ana, always a hard worker, was a graduate of high school. Before moving to Watertown and frequenting St. Patrick’s Parish, Ana was a member of St. Anthony’s Parish in East Cambridge.
Ana married Jorge in 1967, they had been together for 48 years. Along with traveling, Ana also enjoy many other hobbies in life. Her talents as an embroiderer and crocheter were well know throughout her family. Ana would make beautiful blankets for her family members and also beautiful quilted covering for tables.
Funeral from the MacDonald Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home at 270 Main St. Watertown Thursday May 21, 2015, at 8:00 AM followed by Funeral Mass in the Church of St. Patrick, 212 Main St., Watertown at 9 p.m. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-8 p.m.
