Mr. Magnarelli passed away in his home surrounded by family on Sunday afternoon, May 17, 2015 after a period of declining health, he was 89.

A son of the late Dominco and Donata (Quintiliani) Magnarelli, born in San Donato, ValC, Italy.

He came into a world that had just ended the First World War. He became a man with scruples and morals even with the absence of a guiding father and a loving mother.

He fell in love with Barbara and started a family providing for them with his father’s profession, stone Mason trade. Gerardo and Barbara, just like many others during those times, immigrated to the United States in search of a better life.

He and Barbara bought a home in Watertown where they thrived and raised four children. Gerardo became popular getting photographed on his job sites where he lay miles of brick sidewalks and plazas, such as the Freedom Trail in downtown Boston.

Gerardo loved his family and family came first. He loved to pick out toys for his grandchildren and great grandchildren. In his retirement he loved to have a vegetable garden and his monstrous fig tree. He was an avid “bocce” player at the Sons of Italy of Watertown. His greatest joy was to adorn the house for Christmas, the Manger, the Tree, and the Lights. He left peacefully surrounded by his loved ones.

He was the beloved husband of the late Barbara (Cedrone) Magnarelli. Devoted father of Luciana D’Amore & her husband Luigi of Natick, Donata Magnarelli of Watertown,

Roberta Cicolini & her husband Antonio of Malden and Domenico Magnarelli and his wife Mariadomenica of Everett. Dear brother of the late Donata “Natella,” Loreta, Antonia, Carolina, Lucio & Domenica Magnarelli.
