The Watertown High School field hockey team is preparing to defend yet another state championship, but this year the team could make history by setting the nation’s longest undefeated streak of all time.
The Raiders, under the guidance of Head Coach Eileen Donahue, have won six straight MIAA Div. 2 state championships, and have not lost once, and have only a few ties. Watertown’s streak stands at 138 straight undefeated, and the national record of 153 is held by Voorhees Eastern High School in New Jersey.
So, Watertown needs 15 wins and/or ties to tie the record and 16 to set the new one. The Raiders will begin the regular season on Sept. 9 at Arlington and play at Victory Field on Sept. 11.
The 15th game on the schedule is at Wilmington on Oct. 19, and the 16th game will be on Oct. 21 at home versus Melrose.
The playoffs are not officially on the schedule, but it has become a tradition for Watertown to make it to the state final, which will take place on Nov. 21 at WPI.

Yes, should be a good one. Happy to see the game moved into the middle of the season, not right at the start. Sadly I will miss the game.
