Watertown Police tracked down and arrested a woman wanted for allegedly trying to rundown an officer during an incident on Coolidge Avenue earlier this month. On Nov. 12, police responded to a disturbance at 131 Coolidge Ave. involving a woman they later identified as 28-year-old Deanna Beaucher of Reading. After the incident, police discovered she had given them a fake name, said Watertown Police Lt. Michael Lawn.
On Saturday, Dec. 12, 2015, members and friends of the First Parish of Watertown will host the first Open Door Art Show. A percentage of all proceeds will benefit their Opening Doors Capital Campaign. Emphasizing community, commemoration and comfort, the campaign’s goal is to create more comfortable and welcoming spaces throughout the church, including a memorial garden. The show will be hosted from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the First Parish church, 35 Church St.
The Watertown Public Schools has joined with local partners to promote healthy eating and cooking, and will present a healthy cooking workshop with live demonstrations and tastings, plus activities for kids.
Parents are invited to participate in presentations from WPS Food Service Director, Garden Coordinator, ChopChop, Live Well Watertown, and Metrowest Nutrition, 0n Tuesday, Dec. 1 from 5:30-7 p.m in the cafeteria at Lowell Elementary School, 175 Orchard St.. ChopChop Kids, the non-profit behind ChopChop: The Fun Cooking Magazine for Families has joined forces with Watertown Savings Bank and the Watertown Wellness Committee to promote healthy eating and cooking in the town of Watertown. ChopChop will be distributed to all elementary school students in the Watertown Public Schools for the 2015-2016 school year. In addition, each issue includes lesson plans for teachers to use ChopChop in the classroom. “The bank is pleased to be able to support this program,” said Carole Katz, VP of Marketing at Watertown Savings Bank.

Watertown’s Winter Parking Ban begins Sunday, Nov. 29, so remember to move your car! The annual overnight parking ban runs from Nov. 29, 2015 to April 1, 2016. The town’s parking ordinance says: no vehicle may remain on any public way for more than one hour between the hours of 1 a.m and 6 a.m. all days of the week.

Nov. 17, 2:17 a.m.: An officer patrolling on Mt. Auburn Street spotted a man in 7-Eleven who he knew was wanted on a warrant. The 27-year-old Watertown man was arrested on the warrant from Brighton District Court for traffic offenses.
A Watertown group headed to the State House to advocate for refugees, and have an event planned in Watertown on Dec. 5. Watertown Citizens sent out the following announcement:
Watertown Citizens for Peace, Justice & the Environment has wasted no time responding to members’ concerns about the refugee crisis. Two weeks after organizing an informational public meeting last month at the library on this urgent plight, the organization formed a new working group, Watertown Citizens Refugee Support Group. This working group went immediately to work.
