Police Log: Mother’s Wallet Stolen While Playing with Child, Vehicle Rolled Over

The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department.

Arrests

Nov. 25, 4:59 p.m.: A man recognized by employees at the Watertown Street Stop & Shop from previous incidents was seen back in the store. He was seen taking several items, putting them in a cart and left the store. He was caught with $48.28 worth of merchandise. The 56-year-old Watertown man was arrested for shoplifting.

Nov. 26, 3:39 a.m.: Police responded to Hersom Street for a report of a roll-over accident. When they talked to the woman driving, she said she had been looking at her GPS when she struck a parked car and rolled her car. Police detected an odor of alcohol and performed field sobriety tests. The 22-year-old Watertown woman was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, unsafe operation of a motor vehicle and possession of alcohol in a vehicle.

Nov. 26, 8:07 p.m.: Police served a warrant on a 25-year-old Watertown man on Pleasant Street who had violated the GPS requirement of his probation.

Nov. 27, 5:27 p.m.: A man was found sleeping behind the wheel on Charles River Road. Police awoke him and after investigating they determined he was on drugs. Additionally, officers found a plastic bag containing a substance they believe to be cocaine. The 3o-year-old South Boston man was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of drugs, possession of a Class B drug and obstructing traffic.

Nov. 28, 12:09 a.m.: An officer patrolling in Watertown Square ran the registration of a vehicle and found the owner had a warrant. The 32-year-old East Boston man was arrested on the warrant from East Boston District Court for traffic offenses.

Nov. 28, 2:21 a.m.: An accident occurred on Galen Street and and odor of alcohol was detected on the driver’s breath. Field sobriety tests were performed and the 29-year-old Newton man was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Nov. 29, 3:47 p.m.: A Jeep was spotted on Lexington driving with a flat tire. When the vehicle was stopped, officer detected an odor of alcohol on the driver’s breath. Field sobriety tests were performed and the 38-year-old Belmont woman was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Incidents

Nov. 23, 10:15 a.m.: An employee at United Electric Controls on Dexter Avenue found someone had broken the latches on his desk, but nothing appeared to be missing.

Nov. 24, 9:24 a.m.: An employee of UPS said she left her wallet at her desk for a short time and when she returned it was gone. It contained money orders, cash, credit cards and IDs.

Nov. 25, 4:02 p.m.: A man saw his package in the mailroom of his Main Street condo building but when he returned later to pick it up, it was gone.

Nov. 27, 1:46 p.m.: A woman placed a cellphone case with credit cards inside her stroller as she put her child on a kiddie ride at the Arsenal Mall. When she came back it was gone.

Nov. 29, 12:08 p.m.: A shoplifter was detained at Target after he was seen taking a PlayStation 4 game system, put it in a cart and then went to pay for other items, but not the game system and left the store. The 29-year-old Arlington man was summonsed to Waltham District Court for larceny over $250.

Nov. 29, 2:04 p.m.: A man filled a cart at the Stop & Shop on Watertown Street and tried to leave the store. The items were worth a total of $389. The 35-year-old Newton man was summonsed to Waltham District Court for shoplifting over $100.
