Come out and enjoy Watertown’s athletic fields and take part in the Recreation Department’s Winter Vacation program, and see when you can head to the library.

The Watertown Free Public Library will be open on Dec. 24 from 9 a.m. to noon, and will be closed on Christmas Day. The library will reopen on Saturday and resume normal hours over the weekend (9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sunday). If you go, check out the library’s new iMacs!

The Recreation Department will open Victory Field and the courts at Casey Park during the holidays. They will open at 8 a.m. each day, including Christmas, and lights will stay open at both facilities until 8 p.m. (weather permitting) through Dec. 31.

The Recreation Department will also be running a December Vacation program for children in grades 1-8 from Dec. 28-31 from 8:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with early drop off and extended day options available.

Children will be divided into groups by grades at the start of the program and will participate in activities such as basketball, whiffle ball, floor hockey and indoor soccer. In addition, there will be arts and crafts, board games, movies and various special events. Participants should bring a bag lunch, snack and drink.

Also, please consider filling out our customer satisfaction survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/watrecbasic. It will help the Recreation Department offer better programing and facility options for our residents.

This survey will be open until Tuesday, Dec. 31 and results will be available and discussed at our first “Open Forum” of 2016 on Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2016.
