Recreation Director Peter Centola announced that Watertown’s outdoor recreation areas are open for use, but he warned they will not be in tip top shape yet.Centola sent out the following announcement:

The Parks Department of the Department of Public Works have approved the opening of the outdoor recreational faculties in the Town of Watertown effective today March 23, 2016.

That being said, each facility is in need of sprucing up and this will take time to complete. Please be patient!

In the meantime, please use the email parksrec@watertown-ma.gov if there is an item of concern at any facility. Feel free to take a picture if you wish, and clearly identify the facility and specific location.

As most of you know, all groups, organizations and the like need a permit to utilize any facility. The permit application for fields/courts as well as picnic areas are included in this notice.

Most permit requests have been issued, but there are still some that could be considered.

The Master Recreational Facility Schedule is located in the Recreation Folder in the Document Center of the Town’s Website. and will be updated on Friday, March 25.

All permit holders are responsible for the facility they have been permitted for.  Please refer to the rules and regulations listed in detail.

As an added reminder, the high school athletic programs utilize most of the time available at the Victory Complex, especially our artificial turf field. When they are utilizing the field, track or tennis area there is no access to the public.

Also a gentle reminder that dogs or other animals are not allowed on any field or courts service unless specifically approved by the Town.
