The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department.
Arrests
April 11, 5:45 p.m.: The manager at Stop & Shop on Watertown Street reported catching a man putting multiple items in a shopping cart and when he went through the self-checkout he only scanned some of the items. He was stopped when he tried to leave and employees found he had not paid for $426 in groceries. The 36-year-old Waltham man was arrested on a charge of larceny over $250.
April 13, 12:30 p.m.: A person who witnessed a male tagging a utility box on Main Street with paint called police and followed the suspect. When officers stopped the man they found three paint markers, a small can of black spray paint and a bottle of black paint. He also had paint on his hands. Officers found fresh paint on the utility box on Main Street, and then found two other spots that had been recently tagged – a utility box in front of CVS and a mail box in front of the Main Post Office. The 27-year-old Watertown man was arrested on three counts of tagging property.
April 14, 4:45 p.m.: An officer in Watertown Square spotted a car run a red light. When the vehicle was stopped, the driver presented an expired driver’s license. The officer found the driver had a warrant for his arrest, too. The 34-year-old Weymouth man was arrested on charges of unlicensed driving, failing to stop and the warrant out of Quincy District Court.
Incidents
April 11, 4:55 p.m.: A woman reported that she was informed by the IRS that someone tried to file a tax return in her name. The return was not processed. She also had a package containing prescription medicine stolen from the front lobby of her apartment building on Whites Avenue.
April 13, 1:30 a.m.: A Laurel Street resident said she invited two men she ran into on a walk into her home and after they left she realized she was missing some jewelry. The missing items were a diamond ring, a gold ring, a silver rope-style ring and a bracelet. Police are investigating.
April 13, 11:40 a.m.: A package was stolen from a Waltham Street home that contained about $20 worth of items.
April 15, 10:15 a.m.: A fight erupted between two employees at Russo’s after an argument over a personal issue. No injuries were sustained and police did not press charges.
April 15, 12:10 p.m.: Two electric employee time clocks were damaged at Perkins School for the Blind. It appeared water had been poured on them. Perkins will investigate the incident internally.
April 15, 3:45 p.m.: The manager of the Sprint Store in the Arsenal Project reported a phone had been stolen. The iPhone 6s Plus had been delivered and was on hold for a customer. The manager confronted and employee and give him a chance to return the phone, but the employee never came back and did not return the phone. Police found the employee also had three active warrants. They got an arrest warrant for the 28-year-old man from Revere on a charge of larceny over $250.
April 17, 1:10 p.m.: A woman came into Belmont Auto Clinic and parked the wrong way around for the gas hose to reach her tank. An employee asked her to turn around. She moved the vehicle and then began arguing with the employee as he tried to help other customers. Then she got out of the vehicle and hit the employee on the back of the head with an open hand. She got back in her vehicle and left. Police were called and they said she had been trespassed from the business so she could not return, but the employee did not want to press charges.
April 17, 3:10 p.m.: A bike was stolen from the backyard of a home on Waverley Avenue. The blue Mongoose women’s mountain bike had not been locked up and was last seen on March 31. It is worth $275.
April 18, 3:15 p.m.: A resident reported that a vehicle had been damaged while parked at the Oakley Country Club on the evening of April 1. Scratches were found all over the vehicle and the damage cost $4,000 to fix.
April 19, 12:30 p.m.: Three young people were caught taking clothing at Target. Their parents were called and the store did not seek charges.
April 19, 7:05 p.m.: Target security stopped a woman who tried to push a cart full of unpurchased items out of the store. She had clothing and luggage worth $314.66. The woman was summonsed to Waltham District Court for shoplifting over $100.
April 21, 10 a.m.: The tip jar was stolen from the Threading Spa in the Arsenal Project. It contained about $100. Police are investigating.
April 21, 6:20 p.m.: A woman parked her car at the Watertown Mall for about an hour and a half and when she returned she found several scratches that appeared to be from a key.
April 21, 7:25 p.m.: A pair of lawnmower attachments were left on the driveway of a Spruce Street home and when the owner came back out they were gone.
