Many Watertown residents were rudely awakened Sunday morning by a helicopter flying back and forth over town around 6:30 a.m. Watertown Police Chief Michael Lawn was able to shed a bit of light on the situation.
While the why remains kind of vague, Lawn had some information.
“We have received calls all weekend on this as well. We called Logan and were informed that it was an ‘approved” mission,’ Lawn said. “That’s all we know and we’re not told anymore. This took place in Boston a few weeks ago and no information was released there as well.”
Watertown Police Lt. James O’Connor added that the helicopter was taking photos. Residents reported seeing a camera on the front of the chopper. See a photo on a Watertown resident’s Twitter page by clicking here.
This was the second time the town was buzzed by helicopters. At least one helicopter, if not two, were seen over town Friday night around 9 p.m.
