This year, the Watertown’s Commander’s Mansion will again host the Annual Wedding Showcase, but this year the event has been expanded to include other events hosted by the historic home.

The Showcase will take place on Saturday, March 4 and Sunday, March 5 from 1-4 p.m. each day. Different vendors will be featured each day.

Tammy McKenna, facilities manager at the Commander’s Mansion, said the home has not only been a favorite venue for weddings but for all kinds of events, so the expansion of the showcase was a natural one. It can accommodate up to 200 guests.

“We have always hosted all types of events from corporate meetings/retreats to social gatherings such as birthday celebrations and retirement parties,” McKenna said. “It’s just that this year instead of marketing the annual showcase to strictly wedding couples we decided to open up the showcase and market it to everyone looking to host all types of events – reaching out to a larger group that may not necessarily know that we and our vendors can accommodate different types of events.”

The Wedding and Event Showcase features Boston’s top industry vendors, sample treats and tour the Commander’s Mansion.

“This year we are showcasing vendors such as a team building organization, alternate food vendors such as a pie and donut shop – which a corporate group could contract for a breakfast meeting instead of the norm Continental fare and an audio/visual vendor that can supply AV equipment – all of which these vendors can also accommodate weddings as well as all types of events, too,” McKenna said.

The Commander’s Mansion is a convenient location for couples, businesses and organizations around the area.

“Being in the center of Watertown which as you know is growing, allows us to reach out to potential new business for the Commander’s Mansion and being only about 20 minutes from Boston without the Boston prices,” McKenna said.

As a special promotion, in honor of the Patriots winning the Super Bowl, the Commander’s Mansion is offering an additional hour of overtime for free for anyone who books an event during the Annual Wedding and and Event Showcase.

To RSVP for the Showcase, go to www.CommandersMansion.com, and pay $10 at the door. Walk-ins are welcome too. The Commander’s Mansion is located at 440 Talcott Ave., in Watertown, for more information call 617-926-7755.
