The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch from 5 a.m. Tuesday to 6 a.m. Wednesday with heavy snow and gusty winds.

Local weather forecasters predict between 12 and 18 inches of snow to fall in the Boston area. The WCVB Channel 5 forecast said one forecast model has the MetroWest and Boston areas getting more than a foot. This would include Watertown.

The National Weather Service forecast has snow starting after 9 a.m., heavy at times, with winds of 17-22 mph and gusts up to 44 mph. The high will be 35 degrees. The snow is expected to end before midnight.
