Watertown’s Wild Rice Vegan Cafe has served its last meal, owners announced this week.

The restaurant that featured locally sourced vegan world cuisine “in a casual café environment,” closed after being in business for about a year and a half. The restaurant is owned by the team that runs Red Lentil on Mt. Auburn Street. Wild Rice served breakfast, lunch and dinner in the spot formerly occupied by Grappa, on Elm Street.

Owner sent out the following announcement on the Wild Rice Facebook page:

Our friends: It is with a heavy heart that we announce today that Wild Rice Vegan Cafe will be closing. Sunday, June 18 will be our last day serving food. A BIG thank you to our loyal patrons over the past year and a half.

We will continue to provide Watertown with the very best in vegan cuisine around town via our vegan catering, and we hope you will visit us at Red Lentil Vegan & Vegetarian Restaurant on 600 Mount Auburn Street in the future. Visit theredlentil.com for more info
