This along with the other developer’s community meetings held recently were informative and a good opportunity to express thoughts. Some of those thoughts are making it into the designs. Of course, these developers are acting in their interests but we live in a semi regulated capitalist market framework.
There is more good news though. The Dunkin is moving out of Watertown Sq Plaza (45-59 Mt Auburn) but it has another spot in the square. The Subway is staying. Some improvement to roadwork will come with the Water St development. 104 Main St is trying to add a three bedroom rental on the 1st first which is great for families and ADA situations. They are also in talks with the Post Office.
What would be better would be 33 Mt Auburn getting together with 45-49 Mt Auburn to create better Taylor St, the great little cut-through. Similar side facades or massive art project or a nice tree canopy would be great!
