Whether Watertown will build new elementary schools or renovate the current ones will be discussed at the School Building Committee meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 2.
At their last meeting on Dec. 5, the School Building Committee began discussing whether the difference in price for renovating vs. building new schools was small enough to consider new construction.
On Wednesday, architects from Ai3 are expected to present preliminary cost estimates for building new schools at Cunniff and Hosmer elementary schools. Lowell School’s building is historic and the committee prefers to renovate it and keep the facade overlooking Orchard Street.
The Watertown School Building Committee meets on Jan. 2 at 6 p.m. at Town Hall in the Council Chambers.
