Looking for a way to celebrate the positive things during the time of COVID-19, a Watertown business has started a weekly feature focusing on a person, group or even a pet doing something great in town.

Ballroom in Boston will post the weekly honoree on its Facebook page as part of what co-owner Lilia Weisfeldt has dubbed “Watertown Wednesdays.”

“This idea occurred to me that I hear about lots of cool things people are doing around town, especially while we’re all stuck at home,” Weisfeldt said. “I thought we could all use some local positive info in our social media feeds and that this would be a great way to make that happen.”

The first week’s nominees are Allie and Kate Spillane, who provided a behind the scenes peek into the life of a kid during Coronavirus.

The submissions can include text, video, and/or photo. Whatever the person submitting thinks will convey their message best.

“I have heard about really interesting hobbies people have picked up, businesses coming up with innovative ways to serve clients through all of this, and cool connections made because people have the time to actually reach out and talk to someone,” Weisfeldt said. “It has also been fun to see the way communities have come together to keep each other sane – hearts/teddy bears in windows, chalk art, front step photography, neighborhood singing parties, etc.”

Here’s more information about how to make a nomination:

Let’s celebrate what’s great about Watertown! Each Wednesday on the Ballroom in Boston Facebook page we will feature an adult, kid, business, pet, organizations, etc who is doing awesome things in town. We’re kicking off Watertown Wednesdays this week with Allie & Kate Spillane, who are giving us a behind the scenes peek into the life of a kid during coronavirus. 1. My studio, Passaretti Photo, has joined the #TheFrontStepsProject. This is a new idea of ‘drive-by’ family portraits in front of your home at a safe distance. I am doing this to support our community and spread a little joy to those stuck at home. I grew up in Watertown, still have family here and started my business in the square for 20 years. I am now living in Natick but my heart belongs to Watertown. I have chosen The Watertown Boys and Girls Club for my charity. Each family comes out to their front yard..we practice safe distance. They then donate online or through a check to WBGC. Families are all home and this will give them a memory with joy, something we all need right now.
