The recycling event scheduled for May 30, 2020 has been cancelled by the Department of Public works.

The event was planned to be a the Watertown Recycling Center and included a styrofoam collection. There no word, yet, for a new date for the recycling event.

  1. Given that so many of us are home going through papers, it would be great if the town could organize the shredding truck to come to neighborhoods so we can properly dispose of things that require shredding. Would the town consider sponsoring a shredding event, I wonder? Distancing could be observed easily if the truck visited neighborhoods rather than setting up in one place where everyone had to bring their papers. Just a thought….

  2. When is the recycling center going to open again? There should be no distancing problems as Mike does a great job of keeping people in their cars until the spaces next to the various bins are free. With the virus problems and not being able to go to stores, there are a lot of shipments by mail and, therefore, more boxes that people can’t fit in their green bins. Also, we are now in the yard waste time of year and people like to drop off leaves, grass, etc.

  3. I agree with the comment about opening the recycling center. I am becoming an Amazon refuse warehouse amongst other things. Have a broken stationary bike that wants but can’t go anywhere and retailers would only drop new bikes by the curb. I am not superman.
