As Watertown Recreation Department programs reopen this summer, some of the town’s park and recreation facilities will be temporarily closed during the Recreation programs.

The programs run Monday through Friday until Aug. 28, said Watertown Recreation Director Peter Centola.

“During this time, certain parks and/or amenities will be closed to the public as part of the protocol for COVID-19. We are sorry for inconvenience,” Centola said.

Here are a list of the locations and times they will be closed:

Arsenal Park: 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. All areas including fields, courts, tables, gazebos, spray park and tot lots.

  1. So if you are elderly and need to walk in the shade on a flat surface you have to walk around midnight? Filippello Park is the only shaded track.

  2. there’s a soccer skills event Tue – Thu at Fillilipo Park from 5:30-7 pm – shouldn’t that one be closed to the public then?

  3. What are the particular recreation programs you are running? Are they at a cost to families? Parks are public property that we pay for with our tax $$. Selfish on your part to exclude families who have nowhere else to take their children during these extreme times. Shame on you!
