The Watertown Recreation Department announced further closing of part of Filippello Park due to ongoing construction work, and another project will begin in the fall.

The following information was sent out by Recreation Director Peter Centola:

The Filippello (Arlington) section of Filippello Park closure has been extended and will not be open to the public and all users until Friday, August 28 at 6:00pm due to the installation of new field lighting system.

This includes the field, walking track, tot lot / playground and table and grill areas within the Filippello (Arlington) section of the park.

The contractor is performing conduit trenching through next Friday August 14th. The light poles will be installed on the new foundations the following week August 17th – 21st. Seeding of all disturbed areas resulting from the trench work will be completed August 24th – 28th.

PLEASE DO NOT ENTER THIS SECTION OF THE FACILITY AT ANY TIME

The Grove Street field work will begin on or about October 15th.

This does not include the Filippello (Grove) entryway, dog park, courts, parking lot, Filippello (Grove) field, tot lot, table and grill area, bathroom and spray park. Enter from Grove Street.

The Park Adventure Program offered by the Recreation Department will not be using Filippello Park for weeks 5, 6 and 7 and the Raiders FC clinic will move to the Victory (Oval) for the remaining time.

I am sorry for the issue, but we need to close in order to protect the wellbeing of our residents and to allow the contractor to perform the duties effectively and safely. Thanking you in advance for your expected cooperation with this request.
