A man was caught on a home security camera walking around the backyard of a Watertown home, and appeared to attempt to break into the home, Watertown Police said.

Police got a 911 call from an Adams Street resident on Sept. 11 at 8:42 p.m. after being alerted by the home’s Ring camera system, according to Watertown Police Lt. James O’Connor.

“Officers responded, but the person had fled,” O’Connor said. “However, they were able to capture some of what occurred on the surveillance system.”

The footage is in black and white, but shows what appears to be a male wearing long pants, a hooded sweatshirt, a baseball hat and carrying a backpack, O’Connor said.

“He appeared from a driveway, climbed over a small rock wall into the backyard prop of the home,” O’Connor said.

Watertown detectives are investigating the incident.

“No entry was made to the home, no body was harmed,” O’Connor said. “We believe he was trying to attempt to break into the home, based on other evidence from the investigation.”
