The Watertown Memorial Day Parade is back in 2022! The route has been changed, but it will take place on Monday, May 30 starting at noon.

Parade Route

Due to ongoing construction, Watertown Veterans’ Services had to make the decision to change the route in the interest of safety.

The parade will begin right in front of City Hall and conclude at Victory Field. We will take a right on Waverley Avenue, and another right on Orchard Street to complete the route. Here is a Google Maps link of the route: 2022 Parade Route

Volunteers

It’s been almost 2 years since our last parade! We are looking to update our pool of organizers and volunteers. Those who have groups who wish to participate or volunteer should contact Watertown Veterans’ Services. Please stay tuned for more updates in the next few weeks as we iron out all of our Memorial Day details.

Volunteers needed! During the week leading up to Memorial Day, we will continue our annual tradition of placing cemetery flags at Saint Patrick’s Cemetery and Ridgelawn Cemetery.

On May 25: We will begin placing cemetery flags at Saint Patrick’s Cemetery starting around 5 p.m.

On May 26: We will begin placing cemetery flags at Ridgelawn Cemetery starting around 5 p.m.

Volunteers may contact the Watertown VSO (PGeorge@watertown-ma.gov) with questions.

  1. I am so disappointed that the Memorial Day Parade route has changed. I am a life time resident of Melendy Ave and as far back as I can remember the parade always past my street.
This year I will not be able to see the parade. I have limited mobility and could not make my way to a spot on the parade route. I alway stood/sat in front of the post office and socialize with my neighbor old and new as I waved at the marchers in the parade.
I can understand why the route had to be changed. I just hope it goes back to the regular route next year.
