Man Arrested for Home Invasion in Watertown, Was Seen with Firearm

Watertown Police This firearm and ammunition were recovered from a suspect from Leominster charged with an home invasion in Watertown.

The Watertown Police Department provided the following announcement:

On Monday, August 22nd, Watertown Police Department Officers responded to a residence on Lexington Street for a person outside of the home armed with a firearm.

Upon officers’ arrival, the suspect had fled the area in a motor vehicle. It was determined that the suspect and victim (known to each other) were conversing in the backyard. At one point the victim went into the residence. The suspect then displayed a firearm and attempted to enter the home behind the victim to commit a robbery. 911 was called and the suspect fled.

WPD Detectives obtained both an arrest warrant for the suspect and a search warrant for his residence. On Tuesday, WPD Detectives, Leominster Police Department, and Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section, executed the warrants in Leominster, MA.

As a result, Melvin Rosado (24 yrs. old) of Leominster was arrested and charged with home invasion and assault with a dangerous weapon. A 9 mm handgun and several rounds of ammunition were seized.

This incident was not random, and we are confident that there is no danger to the neighborhood. There were no injuries to anyone involved.
