Watertown Farmers Market Offering Opportunity to Get Fresh Produce Over Winter

The Watertown Farmers’ Market will soon be over for the season, but devotees can continue to get fresh produce for Thanksgiving, and over the winter through a pair of programs. Those who qualify can get a free bag for Thanksgiving.

The Watertown Farmers’ Market season wraps up on October 19th but recently announced two partner programs to offer customers local produce in the off-season.

Dick’s Market Farm is offering a one-time Thanksgiving Day Bag for $40 which will include a variety of seasonal produce, including items that can be easily stored. The bag will be delivered free to City Hall (Council Chamber) on Wednesday, November 16th, with pick-up between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Customers using SNAP can get the bag for free using their HIP benefit. People can sign up at the market or on Dick’s website.

SNAP customers need to complete a form and send or mail back to Dick’s by Oct. 14 or drop it at the market. More details below, and flyer and SNAP form can be downloaded here. Homebound residents and those without transportation can request delivery byt emailing watertownmarket@gmail.com.

Still Life Farm, a branch of market vendor Stillman’s Farm, will be offering their fall/winter CSA again this year, beginning in late October (customers can opt to join the CSA in November, after the market wraps-up). Information below and flyer attached.

Dicks’ Market Farm is offering a Thanksgiving produce bag that can be picked up at City Hall in November.

Dick’s Market Gardens will be offering customers a one-time Thanksgiving Produce Bag!

Please Note: They will not be offering a winter CSA this year. 

This would come with a variety of produce suited well for holiday dishes as well as everyday meals! The bag will be delivered to Watertown City Hall on Wednesday, November 16th with pick-up hours between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Items will include a variety of winter squash, potatoes, apples, and onions, and possibly carrots, cabbage, and/or Brussel sprouts (weather dependent).

Pick-up a flyer at the WFM this week and watch for the registration link coming soon.

Customers using SNAP can use HIP and get the bag for free. Pick up a registration form at the MM tent at the market or download and print the form HERE and mail or fax to Dick’s before October 14, 2022.

Still Life Farm, another branch of the Stillman’s Farm family, its offering their Winter CSA program in Watertown again this year! Their farm’s Winter CSA program is a five-month program spanning October to February and is filled with a diverse variety of local produce all grown at their farm. This includes (but is not limited to) storage roots, alliums, winter squashes, cabbages and brussels sprouts, hardy winter greens, and storage fruits. 

The Watertown pick-up will be at Saltonstall Park near City Hall once-a-month, on Fridays, from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., on the following dates: Oct. 21, Nov. 11, Dec. 9, Jan. 13, Feb. 10.
