Watertown Police Catch Pair of Men with “Ghost Gun”

Watertown Police Department The “ghost gun” recovered by Watertown Police during a traffic stop.

The Watertown Police confiscated a “ghost gun” along with a high-capacity magazine and other items during and arrest made after making a traffic stop on Sunday, Nov. 13.

Denis Amaral De Abreau, 20, of Boston, was pulled over after officers stopped his vehicle for speeding at 1:35 a.m. on Nov. 13. they also identified the passenger as Carlos T. Miranda, 29, of Watertown.

“Officers located several illegal items inside the vehicle, to include an illegal Glock 9 mm handgun with nine rounds of live ammunition in the magazine. The handgun did not have a serial number. Also located was another 9 mm extended magazine with 14 rounds of live ammunition and an extended 9 mm Glock magazine (empty),” the announcement on the Watertown Police Facebook page said.

Police believe the firearm is a “Ghost Gun,” which is illegally manufactured and untraceable. They are sometimes made using 3-D printing or other household items. See the information from Mass.gov concerning “Ghost Guns” by clicking here.

After investigating, Police identified the driver and occupant of the vehicle, and arrested them with multiple charges.

Amaral De Abreau faces the following charges: possession of a loaded firearm, two counts of possession of a large capacity magazine, possession of a large capacity firearm, possession of ammunition without a Firearms Identification Card (FID), carrying a firearm without a license, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and speeding.

Miranda faces the following charges: possession of a loaded firearm, two counts of possession of a large capacity magazine, possession of a large capacity firearm, carrying a firearm without a license, and possession of ammunition without a Firearms Identification Card (FID).

“This was outstanding work in a very dangerous situation by the officers involved. We thank them for continuing to keep our great community safe!” the Watertown Police announcement said.

  3. Thanks Watertown PD. This should be an eyeopener to everyone who thinks banning guns is the answer to gun violence. Criminals who want to commit crimes will find a way to get weapons whether guns are legal or not.
