Runners Take to Streets of Watertown for 17th Annual Donohue’s Turkey Trot

Charlie Breitrose Runners hit the streets for the 17th annual Donohue’s Turkey Trot on Thursday morning.

The tradition continued Thursday morning when hundreds of runners and walkers gathered for the 17th time to hit the streets of Watertown during the Donohue’s Bar & Grill Turkey Trot.

The proceeds from the 5K run and walk run and walk go to the Watertown Boys & Girls Club.

The race drew a large crowd on a sunny but crisp Thanksgiving morning when temperatures hovered around freezing.

Charlie Breitrose Many of the participants, young and old, donned Thanksgiving-themed gear.

The winner was Ben Weingart, who finished the Turkey Trot in 16 minutes 31 seconds. The fastest female finisher was Grace Eysenbach, who ran the course in 19:28.

Charlie Breitrose Nearly 800 people officially entered the 17th annual Donohue’s Turkey Trot.

Young athletes also got into the action, running around the block for the kids race.

Officially, 790 people participated in the Turkey Trot, and even more registered for the race.

Charlie Breitrose Despite the cold temperatures, runners came out in droves for the Turkey Trot.

Free breakfast and drinks were provided by Donohue’s Bar & Grill for runners and spectators, and prizes were given to the winners of the 20 different divisions (based on age or weigh class). All runners were entered into a raffle for dozens of prizes.
