Three Watertown Field Hockey Players Make All-Scholastic Team, Head Coach Honored

Three Watertown field hockey players made the All-Scholastic teams for one or both of the Boston Globe and Boston Herald for their play in 2023, and their coach also received recognition.

Senior Molly Driscoll made the All-Scholastic teams for both the Globe and Herald, and the Globe named her the Div. 3 Athlete of the Year. Driscoll, who will attend Boston University after a post-grad season, became Watertown’s all-time leading scorer with 150 goals, including 60 in her final season with the Raiders. She added 20 assists in 2023 and also set the mark for most assists in WHS history, with 68.

Other honors for the 2023 season for Driscoll include Middlesex League Most Valuable Player, the First Team NFHCA All-Region team, the Best of 60 Senior Game, and the 2023 Joanne Paquette Academic All-Star Squad sponsored by the Massachusetts Field Hockey Coaches Association (MFHCA).

Junior Rachel Egan earned All-Scholastic honors for both the Herald and the Globe.

“The three-year starter played a key role in the Raiders’ undefeated 22-0 record and third straight state title,” the Boston Globe wrote.

Egan scored 24 goals and added 15 assists in 2023 to surpass 60 points in her career. She made the First Team NFHCA All-Region team, the 2023 MFHCA Joanne Paquette Academic All-Star Squad, and was a Middlesex League All-Star. She has verbally committed to play for Holy Cross.

The Boston Herald named senior Aislin Devaney to its All-Scholastic team.

“Devaney anchored a Watertown defense that set at national record with 41 consecutive shutouts before securing its third straight Div. 3 state title,” the Boston Herald wrote.

She finished her career with 57 career points, played in the Best of 60 Senior Game, and was a Middlesex All-Star. She will play field hockey at Union College.

Along with the trio of Watertown players, head coach Eileen Donahue was named the Boston Globe‘s Div. 3 Coach of the Year. In 2023, her 38th season coaching the Raiders, Donahue surpassed 750 wins, won the State Title for the 21st time, finished the season undefeated at 22-0, and improved her record to 755-34-46. She was inducted into the NFHCA Hall of Fame in 2019.
